GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Marotta SPV82 Series manual valves boast a simple overriding release mechanism which provides emergency closing/opening in milliseconds.  During normal operating conditions, these valves are actuated by the conventional hand wheel method.  When an emergency occurs, a lever actuates the "armed" release mechanism, thus the valve is closed or opened without manually turning the hand wheel.  This emergency operation can be local or remote through the use of a cable.  Optional methods for actuating the quick release mechanism can be electrical or pressure operated.

Other features of the SPV82 Series are packless construction (bellows seal) and visual position indication (closed-open).

PRODUCT APPLICATION

In shipboard fuel oil service systems the SPV82 Series valves furnish a means of rapidly shutting off the flow of oil in the event of an emergency.  As shown on the schematic, one SPV82A valve is used in the steam supply feed line to the turbine driven fuel oil pump.  The SPV82D acts as a shut-off valve between the fuel oil storage tank and the pump.  Either SPV82B's or C's (depending on line size) are used as shut-off valves on the fuel lines feeding the boiler burners.

Other industry application for this series of valves include oil tanker loading facilities, chemical processing lines, natural gas/oil transmission systems, and fuel transfer systems, as well as nuclear and fossil power plants.
