APPLICATIONS

Pressure Reducers
The pressure reducers offer light weight, dual capacity and a wide range of regulated outlet pressures.  This series features the Marotta-originated balanced poppet and a metallic sensing poppet.  Therefore, even widely varying inlet pressures have little effect on the regulated pressure. Metallic pistons maintain constant sensing area and eliminate "diaphragm fatigue" failures.  Several piston sizes are available for selection, depending on outlet pressure range and accuracy desired.

Pressure Regulators
The pressure regulators, in addition to the above, offer an integral relief valve.  This arrangement provides assurance against over pressure such as may result from thermal effects or accidental seat damage. These versatile designs, in a compact package, are ideal for standard high pressure systems and for special applications such as flight attitude control and fuel pressurization systems as well as in general ground support use. Outlet pressure is factory set to customer requirements.  It can be easily adjusted in the field within a given range by competent personnel.

regulation CHARACTERISTICS OF TYPICAL
PRESSURE REGULATING VALVES

FIGURE 1 - The darkly shaded hysteresis band represents typical unbalanced poppet design accuracy.  The regulated pressure can creep up to the cracking pressure of the separate relief valve.
FIGURE 2 - Marotta balanced poppet pressure reducer provides constant outlet pressure with decaying inlet pressure. So the internal relief valve can be set to a lower cracking pressure, providing narrower regulation band.
FIGURE 3 - Marotta's balanced poppet design with integral relief allows constant outlet pressure with varying inlet and has a very narrow regulation hysterisis band. The dead band or difference between lock up and relief cracking pressure is only 5% with no danger of interflow.
