APPLICATIONS

The Marotta PPS102 Valve and Bottle System consists of a squib operated, 2-way, aluminum valve and fiberglass wound pressure vessel.  Standard model operates at 3000 psig and incorporates a pressure disc relief valve as well as a fill port.

The unobstructed orifice opening of the valve ensures a fast and consistent discharge rate.  This makes the PPS102 valve and bottle system suitable for helicopter flotation systems, emergency deployment of aircraft landing gear, and life raft inflation.

OPERATING DESCRIPTION

In the power off position, Figure 1, the outlet port is blocked by the poppet which is mechanically held in the closed position.

The force generated by the squib cartridge firing, Figure 2, moves the piston inward allowing the mechanical latch to be released.

Without resistance, bottle pressure, can now move the poppet to the full open position, as in Figure 3.  This provides an unobstructed passage from the bottle to outlet.  The valve can be reused by simply resetting and replacing the squib actuator.
